One of the most fascinating aspects of building Hyikko has been watching how users craft their prompts. Some users have mastered the art of prompt engineering, creating queries that consistently return the best flight deals. Here are some of my favorites.
"3 nights from NYC to Vegas, Thursday-Sunday only, direct flights, anywhere in August"
This user nailed it by being specific about days, and preferences while keeping it flexible. The result? Consistently finding weekend getaways under budget.
"10-14 nights from Munich to Sri Lanka, Bali or Bangkok, max one stop, between 10th October - 15th November"
Giving multiple night options (10-14 nights) and multiple destinations (Sri Lanka, Bali or Bangkok) - this user is going to find a cheap flight to Asia.
"Oneway from Mexico City, Acapulco or Puerto Vallarta to LA or San Fransisco or San Diego, in the next 10 days"
Want to fly from Mexico to the California? This user basically compared all options and using Hyikko he'll be able to visulize results, easily compare and find the best combo.
Well done!
"10 nights on a Greek island end of October, beginning of November from Cologne or Frankfurt"
The perfect example of a prompt that would be a nightmare to pull in traditional engines, but with Hyikko it's only a sentence.
The more flex you are, the better chances of finding better deals.
Range of nights (i.e "3-5 nights"), range of dates (i.e "10th Sept - 15th Oct"), range of destinations (i.e "London, Paris, Rome"), etc.
Just remember that complex searches take longer to process, so try to balance it out.
Comparing dates? Use the price-calendar heatmap to see the best days to fly.
Best-Value for money? Use the price-duration graph to see which gives the best price in relation to it's duration.
Comparing destinations? Use the globe heatmap to see the best airports to fly from.
Under the settings control, you can set the "Priority" to "Price" or "Duration" - depending on what's more important to you.
This is how you let the engine know what to prioritize while searching all combinations, as well as how to sort the final results.
As more users discover Hyikko, I'm excited to see how prompt engineering evolves. The best prompts often come from users who are either flexible with their dates or destinations.
The most successful users treat Hyikko like a conversation with a knowledgeable travel agent. Be specific, be honest about your preferences, and don't be afraid to iterate on your prompts.
